Hi CC,

I am currently a senior and have been accepted to some of the best summer programs in the nation. I encourage anyone to ask questions!

Here's my credentials (it's a chance thread :P )
https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/2100728-chance-me-for-top-cs-schools.html#latest

Here is a list of the programs I have been accepted to over the past three summers:
COSMOS (attended)
SIP (UCSC one)
SIP (the other more well known one)
SIMR
UCSB RMP
Awesome Math
USA/Canada Math Camp
MITES
HSHSP
BU RISE
SAMS
TASP (attended)
Ross (attended)
SUMaC
Beaverworks
LaunchX
Simons Research Program
Was an alternate for RSI (sad boi)
PROMYS
EPGY (Stanford)

I hope that I can help everyone get into their summer programs! I will gladly look over any application essays. Just PM me. Keep in mind that I cannot guarantee anything, but I will try my best to help. Also, I am just a student with college apps so I may be late responding to y'all.

What are freshman's planning to do this summer? Most of them seem to be for sophomores and higher.

PA Governors Schools for 2019

For Pitt PA Global Studies 2019, how many students are accepted in the program each year, and can a student reapply if they are not accepted the first year? Are all these programs renewed every year or does it depend on state funding? It's nice to see programs in addition to the traditional STEM governor's schools. Thanks in advance for any information.

I think we stumbled on the new application but can’t see any details indicating that the period to apply is open. Does anyone have any details for the 2020 session?

Hey! I know it's early, but I wanted to see if anyone else on here is interested in applying.
I really want to do the course on Magical Realism since it's my favorite literary genre. I've never had to apply for a summer program before, so I'm unsure of how to approach the essays (especially since there's no min/max word count, so I don't really know how to structure my answers).

What course(s) do you want to take? Does anyone know how selective it is? If you've participated in the program before, what was your experience like? Do you have any advice for writing the essays?

LEDA Scholars Application - 2019-2020

Hey! The applications for LEDA opened today! I've seen in past years that there's usually a application thread, so here you go, you're welcome :). A bit of background: Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America is an all-expenses paid seven-week summer program at Princeton University for low-income students. I've heard so much about it so I'm really excited.

My daughter and I are considering this organization for a short Spanish immersion experience for her. I've read good reviews, but I'd also like to hear feedback from anyone on CC who has used the program (or knows someone who has). Thank you!

MIT PRIMES 2020

I'm currently applying to MIT PRIMES USA (the application is due in couple days...good luck to anyone else who's applying!) I guess I'm just wondering how selective it is/how high the acceptance rate is (and how likely it is for me to get in). Is it comparable to RSI (~1% acceptance rate) or more to other selective programs such as the Simons summer research program (~12%)?

What factors do they weigh most in admissions (pset, rec letters, background, competition performance, diversity)? How much background are they expecting (e.g. calculus, linear algebra, abstract algebra, coding ability)? How many problems solved for the p-set would be expected (it says >50-60% should consider applying, but I assume most people accepted would be higher than that)? This year is out of 13 (7+6). How many in the general/advanced section and what would the split be for an average participant?

Does anyone know when the Google CSSI 2020 application opens up? I tried contacting the people but didn't hear anything back.

Thanks

Hey y'all. NSLI-Y applications opened today, so I thought I'd take the liberty of opening the annual forum. This will be my second time applying, as I was rejected as a semi-finalist last year. Best of luck!

Good summer programs for engineering near me?

I've been looking at things to do over the summer before senior year (i'm a junior now) to build up my college application a bit. I got an email about TASP, and it seems really interesting (even though it's not really STEM related, I think it would still be a super cool experience) and I was wondering what other things are out there. A lot of these programs are across the country (I live in Indiana) so transportation (If i'm even accepted, which is probably a stretch anyway) would be a critical factor. Any ideas?

How to get into the New Jersey Scholar Program

Hi! So my school is doing the New Jersey Scholar Program, and I was just wondering about my own chances if I was chosen. I have a decent GPA (99.894 the last time I checked), and I have seven leadership positions (Highest one being Vice-president for my Latin club, and having a state position in a latin-related organization.) Did around 60+ hours of community service, and have many awards also pertaining to latin. (Such as a gold medal on the National exam and Bronze on the Roman Civilzation Exam).
I'm just a bit curious and everything becuase I rather have my hopes and dreams crushed now, rather than later. Do you think I would have a chance to get in?
