summer STEM programs for rising sophomores and SSTP

My son currently is a 9th grader and I wonder if there are any STEM programs during the coming summer that would take 9th graders? He is also a year ahead of other kids in math/science subjects, taking precal and physics C this year. Will this be considered if he's applying for a program that requires 10th grader?

Another question about SSTP. have any rising sophomores got accepted into SSTP in IOWA?
