Hey everyone! I'm creating this thread for anyone interested in applying to LEDA. LEDA is a selective, all-expenses paid, seven-week summer program at Princeton that helps students from low-income backgrounds apply to and succeed at the nation's top universities. I am a scholar from Cohort 14, so feel free to ask me any of your questions!

Adroit Journal Summer Mentorship Program 2019 Thread
Hi guys!! I'm new to this place -- came on here this morning to look for some application tips for the adroit journal's mentorship program and couldn't find anything for this year. Is anyone else applying?? I was denied last year but I'm really hoping this year is the year its supposed to work out.
If you have no idea what the adroit mentorship is, it's basically the best summer thing I can find for writing -- it's for high school students and it's free/online. The mentors are amazing, I just checked some of the poetry ones out. (I'm applying first choice poetry, second choice fiction. But my fiction is bad lol.)
There's more here: https://theadroitjournal.org/about/mentorship/
Ugh I really want to get in. Trying to figure out when it's best to submit. Idk 😭

TASP 2019
Hey guys!
I'm starting a new thread for people applying to the TASP program in 2019, seeing how applications are out and nobody has made one yet.
I'm applying for it myself, and I was hoping to create a place for other applicants to talk and discuss.

JCamp 2019
So I've noticed that there are barely any posts about JCamp on CC, which is surprising. Is there anyone that has attended JCamp and would be willing to talk about the experience? Other applicants, what are you writing about?

I'm a Canadian sophomore (obviously) who's really excited for a chance at these awesome programs!
Please share any insights you have on the process!

Summer Science Program 2019
Hi there! I didn't see a thread for SSP this year so I decided it would be nice to make one since the application starts today. I'm not sure how much advice I personally can give, but feel free to ask questions about the application here and hopefully I or someone else (an alumnus, perhaps?) can answer them. I'm applying to the Astrophysics program as a junior. Nice to meet you all!

Iowa Young Writers' Studio 2019
Hey guys! I noticed that although applications are opening January 28, there doesn't seem to be a thread for this year yet. My twin and I were both accepted in the past, and I wanted to make sure everyone has a space to discuss the application and ask questions for 2019. We were both accepted to our dream schools for college (Columbia University for me, Haverford College for her), and believe that IYWS played a role in that, in addition to it simply being an absolutely incredible opportunity for high school students and writers in general.
Also, I was considering filming a video on the components of the IYWS application (portfolio, personal statement, etc.), and how I got accepted, ft. my twin, and discussing what it's like to actually go there. Would something like that be helpful to you guys?

Engineering Summer Academy at Penn - ESAP 2019
Hi!
My son applied to the ESAP program by the priority deadline. I know the results are supposed to come out sometime next week. I just thought I'll get this thread started so people can share their status and post if results start coming out.
Thanks

Pratt precollege summer 2019
My son applied to their program in January (portal opened in December and deadline was March 1). An email to their precollege program resulted in an automatic response that states acceptances would be sent beginning March 18 in the order that the applications were received. A real response a few days later answered my question that students who were not accepted would also receive emails. It's March 22, and he hasn't received any emails. Anybody else still waiting who submitted earlier or later? Or anyone have experience in how long it would take to get notification either way?
Thanks for any information!

AMA: LaunchX (MIT Launch) '18 alum
I participated in a program called LaunchX last summer and wanted to offer my experience if anyone is considering it or wanted to learn morea bout it.
Why apply to Launch:
- the program is highly hands on. You create REAL companies and make lifelong friends.
- most companies formed at Launch continues after the conclusion of the program. I've heard of companies from two years ago still running and making enough money to be self-sufficient.
- every single lecture (maybe except the first three days) is designed to support your company growth. the lecturer (sometime guest speakers) are highly knowledgeable in their respective field and usually will stay 10 minutes after lecture to answer individual questions. You learn everything from primary market research (PMR) to professional marketing. You even get legal consulting!
- Launch reimburse some of your prototyping costs.
Do not apply to Launch if you are trying to:
- get a golden ticket to x university. While Launch team has a good relationship with their universities, it's not a golden ticket.
- just to fill your time. you simply won't get in if you aren't passionate.
Again if you have any questions about Launch, just let me know. Good luck on your applications everyone!

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) 2019
Hi
I haven’t seen a thread for 2019 yet (sorry if there is!) so I’m starting one. How is everyone getting on with their essays? And is it worth it to go up to the word limit or is less okay?
