Hello. I'm currently a HS junior looking for summer programs to apply to. I've read probably every post on here and AoPS and am interested in these four math programs. Math is my favorite subject. I have a passion for it, so I will definitely try my hardest at the applications. I have right now three full pages of LaTeX for one of the application problems that I haven't even finished yet! I was wondering which of these four programs would look the best on college applications/would benefit me the most. I've learned that PROMYS and ROSS and very similar and structured toward number theory, whereas HCSSiM is more variable and Mathcamp is everything in between. I'm looking for a combination of prestige and benefit. I've seen a little bit into the structure of each program, but what I really want is which one(s) I should apply to. It seems too brutal to apply to all four and have a good chance. I would rather apply to one or two but with a really kickass application with delved-into math concepts and reasoning than applying to all four half-assedly. Anyone have any suggestions? If nothing else I'd like to eliminate one or two. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. :)

New Jersey Scholars Program 2018
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone from the past could shine some light on what kind of extracurriculars are needed to get into the semifinals for this program. Also, does GPA weigh more than the personal essays or is it the other way around? My counselor just gave me the form to fill out and I just want some more information about the program.

Harvard PreCollege Program
Hey all,
I'm a high school junior, and I recently got accepted into Harvard's precollege program. I'm interested in the Negotiation in International Politics and Macroeconomics and Finance courses, and i wanted to get some feedback/opinion's on both these courses and the Harvard Precollege program (aspects such as the daily life, course difficulty, social life, activities). Also, I'm a rower and i was wondering if Harvard allows their precollege students to row/erg at the boathouse?
It would be awesome if I could any replies from alum or even recently admitted students!

Columbia University summer program( high school)
Hello everyone,
I’m applying to Columbia 3-week Summer Program for High School Students. I decided to choose mathematics. It got pretty weird, as they started requesting more and more documents(not listed at the beginning). Does anyone know how hard is it to get there?

Summer Programs? 2018
Hi, I'm an incoming junior in high school and I want to participate in a summer program this summer.
I am indecisive as to what program to apply to, especially in terms of what will be beneficial for when it comes to the college application process.
I am not yet certain as to what path to take when it comes to college in terms of major, but I am aiming for UCLA, UCB, etc.
I am extremely passionate about Speech and Debate, with heavy focus on Speech and have won many major awards. I am also very passionate about writing, and it is one of my most favorite hobbies.
I want to participate in a summer program (at a good college) that will make me stand out. If I cannot find one soon, I will most likely be attending the Stanford Speech and Debate camp.
Please help me out- I do not know where to look to gain better insight into this issue.
Thanks!

Bank of America Student Leadership Program 2018
I can't seem to find this year one so I am starting a new discussion!
I have been working on my application but my essays are not 1000 words and they are like 400-500 words. Is everyone writing 1000 words essays?

2018 Summer Business Programs
Anyone know any business programs still open for rising juniors this summer? So many of the prestigious ones' deadlines have closed. Anyone? I've heard that a ton of them are just money scams, I'm looking for one thats actually kind of selective/prestigious to boost my app a bit. I'd really appreciate any advice :(

MIT MOSTEC 2018 Admissions
I know that MIT's MITES summer program mainly admits students from underrepresented minorites/ low income backgrounds. Does anyone know if the MOSTEC program works the same way? I would love to apply for MOSTEC but I'm afraid my application wouldn't even be considered since I am an Asian male from an upper middle-class background.
If there are any MOSTEC alumni out there, do you know how much the MOSTEC admissions committee considers race/ethnicity/background? Would it make sense for me to apply?

BU RISE Internship 2018
Hi all,
Junior here. I applied to RSI and I'm planning on applying to the BU Rise program as well. Seems like every year or two someone gets a publication (internship) and there are about 3-5 Siemens semifinalists as well. Just curious, are there any other prestigious programs like such that have publications and/or submissions to national competitions such as Siemens and ISEF?
I'm planning on applying so just discuss any stats, concerns, etc!

COLUMBIA HSPx2018
Hello Everyone!
I am a sophomore in high school and I have been accepted into the Columbia High School Summer Program (Session I) for 'Entrepreneurship and Innovation: New Product Development'.
After reading innumerable articles and watching videos about the program, I have understood that like everything else, the Columbia High School Summer Program has its own pros and cons. I am an International student (India) and since middle school I have my own community service project, I have already done an internship and my co-curriculars are up to a good level. However, I have never visited The United States or visited a college before, yet, I am a US Citizen and will be applying to Colleges/Universities there in the future. Hence, I am looking forward to make new friends, create new memories, learn about different cultures but most importantly, get a feel of the ever busy city, New York and my dream college, Columbia University in the City of New York.
Also, if any of the previous students can share more information on what was done there on a daily basis, i.,e., how many trips were conducted, how liberal was the residential option, were you allowed to leave campus anytime you wanted, how much money is required to be carried by an individual, etc..
I would love to know if anyone else is attending the program and if we could get in touch before hand because I have never been on my own before and I am a tad bit scared to make new friends.
I would really appreciate all the help I could get as I am very nervous for the program.
Thank You

'Summer program' vs 'online_course+volunteering' vs internship
Hi,
I am in dilemma in choosing between a summer program and couple other options. I am interested in pursuing my passion in Math over summer - have the following options and wanted to make sure that my choice would help me further my interest and also help in admissions in 2 years. BTW I am currently a sophomore. Please, advice and/or share your thoughts on my options below (i.e what you would do and why).
Option#1: Attend a summer program. Haven't yet got admission but based on my participation last year, confident of getting into one of PROMYS/Awesome-Math/USA-Canada Mathcamp (last year applied and admitted to 2 of them and attended one and loved it). This will enable me to pursue doing math research and hopefully will give me an idea to pursue during my junior/senior years - this is long range wishful thinking but immediately attending the camp can give me an added boost to math solving skills which can at least help in math competitions that I plan to participate next year. Attending this program costs money and parents are ok to pay.
Option#2: Take an online course which can strengthen my high school course plan. Currently (without taking any online courses) am on way to complete toughest math courses offered at school by end of senior year - these are Calculus BC and stats AP. If I take one online course (in an elective course to make room for an additional math class in my senior schedule) - I could potentially take a DE math course in the senior year. The online course is not too intensive and I could volunteer rest of the time - btw my volunteer hours are very low as of now. Have a volunteering position lined up to help tutor math and other misc volunteering. This option does not cost any money (the online course is free).
Option#3: Internship - am still in the process and don't have one in hand yet - but received a favourable reply from a local professor for an unpaid internship with his group over summer (consider 75% confirmed - I just need to make the final push to formally get confirmation). This is kind of open-ended as of now - but if it works out I may be able to gain research experience. Does not cost money but needs a tough commute 3 times a week.
all the above options are for six weeks, leaving me 2-3 weeks for just relaxing/vacationing.
(am conflicted because option#1 and 3 could give me some research exp; but option#2 could boost my gpa and show a stronger curriculum than is possible now and it can also improve my volunteering which is non-existent as of now; want to attend a good/top college in math/stem areas and think this summer is my last chance to standout; because next summer I will be busy with SAT and other last-minute required things). thanks and sorry for the long post.
